Update on how Riskline covers Russian airspace restrictions due to safety concerns related to the Ukraine-Russia war

Riskline is adapting the way we report on Russian airspace restrictions related to the ongoing conflict. Flight delays and occasional cancellations related to drones or other airspace hazards have become part of the established operational environment in Russia.
In order to reduce low-utility alert overload and to concentrate our efforts on what will most benefit you, we will adopt the following Russia-wide alert reporting approach starting Monday, 7 September 2026.
We will continue to cover:
- Prolonged or significant disruption at Russian airports, including extended closures or substantial operational disruption.
- Exceptional traveller disruption, such as widespread cancellations, prolonged delays, significant diversions or large numbers of stranded passengers.
- Physical damage to airport infrastructure anywhere in Russia resulting in a prolonged closure or significant operational impact.
We will no longer cover:
- Short-lived or routine flight restrictions at airports across Russia related to drones or other airspace hazards, where operations resume relatively quickly.
- Restrictions causing only minor delays or limited operational disruption.
